SVBCC joined the local Miata club for bluegrass music and a picnic at the Humpback Rock Visitors’ Center. About 20 participants set up chairs/blankets in the shade, shared food & drink, and enjoyed good conversation. Mid-90 degree temperatures in the flat lands kept some Club members away but those who made it to the BRP enjoyed cooler temperatures, gentle breezes, and the sounds of the Grassy Ridge band. Following the concert, some of us went for ice cream at Chiles peach orchard.
Sunday afternoon concerts featuring country, mountain, and blue grass music have been regular features at the Visitors’ Center for many years.
Friends of the Blue Ridge Parkway is a volunteer organization working with the NPS to promote this and other activities. Consider supporting “Friends”.
