DESCRIPTION:Saturday\, July 11 (Sunday\, July 12 rain-date)\nAfton Mountain parking area\nFor 9:30 a.m. departure \nNothing like a summer drive on the Blue-Ridge Parkway. On Saturday July 11\, we’ll plan to meet on Afton Mountain in the old Howard Johnson’s parking lot for a 9:30 departure. We’ll take a leisurely\, approximately 2 hour (85 mi.)\, drive down the beautiful Blue-Ridge Parkway\, stopping at one or two overlooks on our way to the Peaks of Otter restaurant for lunch. \nAfter lunch\, there are three very interesting sites you can visit in or near the town of Bedford if you wish. We won’t do these as an organized group\, but you can visit the one(s) that interest you. They are all worth seeing. Tickets should be purchased at the individual site(s). \n• Bedford Boys Tribute Center\nMuseum dedicated to the story of the “Bedford Boys” who sacrificed so much for the country on D-Day\, with artifacts.
