SUMMARY:Annual SVBCC British Car Festival - (Note Change To Park Entrance)
DESCRIPTION:Mark your calendar – this is the big one that you don’t want to miss! Expect to see 100 – 200 British cars from several states\, all gathered in a beautiful park setting. \nNOTE: Our usual entrance to Ridgeview Park cannot be used because of the recent rains. Even if the park is closed\, we have permission to go on with our show. Entrants and spectators must approach via the main entrance to Ridgeview Park (by the swimming pool) at 700 South Magnolia Ave. (Waynesboro) and follow the signs. The map link in this event has been changed to reflect the new location. \nA portion of your entry fee will go to the Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. \nFind a schedule and more details about the show here. \nPlease plan to get involved; the club needs more volunteers to help with this event. We will post more details about these opportunities soon.

SUMMARY:(SVBCC) Merrie Mill Farm & Vineyard British Revival Car Show
DESCRIPTION:A gathering for British cars\, organised* by David & Shirley Eames (both British)\, and held at Merrie Mill (owned by a British couple). Doesn’t get much more British than that. \n(*we just had to use the British spelling) \nHere’s the latest from David (as of late August): \n“As many of our members know\, I have been working for the past three years with Guy Pelly\, an Englishman and Co-Founder of the Merrie Mill Farm & Vineyard in Keswick\, to organize this popular cruise-in. In the past\, we have had over 50 British cars take part including the new Minis! All British Car Club members will receive a complimentary glass of wine. I have reserved a table for 12 for our SVBCC members to use as a “home base”\, but if you would like to reserve your\nown table\, please visit merriemillfarm.com. There will also be plenty of first come first serve tables on the patio and on the lawns.\nAll participating British cars will be displayed on the perfectly flat paddock lawn in front of the tasting room so all guests at the winery can see them. British cars should follow the signs to the paddock area on the paved driveway. \nBritish car attendees: please email guy@marriemillfarm.com and copy me eames325@gmail.com indicating your interest so that we can prepare for your arrival. I hope to see you all there!” \nDavid Eames

SUMMARY:(SVBCC) Highland County + West Virginia Run
DESCRIPTION:Note date change! \nCome and join Wes and Kieren for an enjoyable run in Highland County on SUNDAY\, AUGUST 11th (new date).  We’ll gather at the overlook atop Shenandoah Mountain at the breastworks of Fort Johnston at 10:00 AM.  We’ll depart from there promptly at 10:15 for a drive to Palo Alto (a road sign “community”) located to the north on the border with our neighbor\, West Virginia\, and continue to the hamlet of Sugar Grove.  From there we head west and eventually make our way back to Monterey where we will take brunch at the recently opened Monterey Inn.  The drive isn’t very long\, 42 miles\, and takes right at one hour\, depending on how many “keep-uppers and hang be-hinders” are in the group.  Some of this route we have taken on a previous Highland County run\, but we are going in the opposite direction\, so the views are different but just as enjoyable. So come on out and let’s drive some mountain roads and eat well.  Please email Wes (wesmaupin@ymail.com) so appropriate reservations can be made as the Monterey Inn is a popular place to dine\, especially on weekends.  Cheers!

SUMMARY:British Car Week
DESCRIPTION:“British Car Week is an annual tradition of promoting the British car hobby. It began as a response to columnist Peter Egan’s wake-up call titled “Seldom Seen Cars” published in the March 1997 issue of Road & Track Magazine. The latter part of May was chosen since it is a time of year when many British car owners begin thinking about preparing their cars for the upcoming driving season. The idea was to promote the British car hobby using the vast resources of the internet to contact British car enthusiasts wherever possible (email\, clubs\, blogs\, list groups…)\, and hope they would join forces to help promote all of the many wonderful facets of the hobby. By getting cars onto the roads of communities everywhere possible during the week\, it would help increase awareness of these once very popular vehicles\, and in turn help keep the hobby and businesses that support our cars flourishing.” \nNote that the SVBCC has four events during this week: \n\nMay 27: Cruise-In & Picnic @ Glenmore Country Club\nJune 1 (morning): British Invasion (& Breakfast) @ Cars & Coffee Charlottesville\nJune 1 (afternoon): Rockbridge Winery Afternoon\nJune 2: Drive To Luray Caverns for Brunch + Car & Carriage Museum
