DESCRIPTION:Spend a relaxing late morning drive along the back roads of the Valley! \n“On Saturday\, July 13th we’re going to meet at the Pilot fuel center at 3541 N Lee-Jackson Highway in Greenville at 10:15 with a 10:30 departure for an approximately 90 minute drive through southern Augusta and northern Rockbridge counties with a destination at Sam’s farm at 5160 Borden Grant Trail near Fairfield.\nAfter the drive there will be a “bring something to share picnic” in the large back yard. Drinks (soft) and Raphine Fire Department BBQ chicken will be provided. Bring a folding chair and enjoy a meal under the spreading apple tree with your fellow LBC enthusiasts.\nThis is a sunshine event. Kent Island Yacht Club\, is the perfect setting to host a weekend of Camaraderie and Motoring Excellence. We invite you to enjoy antique – classic – cars – boats\, along the Yacht Club’s picturesque waterfront lawn on Saturday and Sunday\, June 8th and 9th . Leading up to and as a preview to Sunday’s Award Ceremony\, our celebration begins on Saturday Morning June 8th with Cars and Coffee at 8:30 am for registered entrants and ticket holders\, with gates opening for attendees at 10:00am. Kent Island Yacht Club will feature Antique Yachts and Classic Boats\, many notable and prestigious automobile clubs from the Chesapeake Region and beyond will exhibit member’s American Classic\, Muscle and Special Interest Cars along-side a unique gathering of previous Award-Winning Motorcars to include Grand Classic\, Pre-War\, Post-War\, Touring\, and European Sports Cars\, concluding with an Award Ceremony on Sunday afternoon. The Yacht Club shall offer local fare and libation for purchase throughout the weekend. Motoring Festival Tickets are now available for purchase online. DESCRIPTION:Jeffrey Bonacci is organizing a drive to Luray Caverns and its Car & Carriage Caravan Museum on June 2. \nSunday\, June 2nd\, The SVBCC will host a drive to The Mimslyn Inn in Luray for their Sunday Brunch followed by a tour of the Luray Caverns\, The Car and Carriage Museum\, Shenandoah Heritage Village and Toy Town Junction. \nWe will plan to meet at 10:45 AM in the parking lot of the Dupont Community Credit Union\, 200 East Broad Street in Waynesboro for departure at 11:00 AM. (There are two other branches of the Credit Union in Waynesboro so note that we will be meeting at the Riverside Branch.) \nIt should take about an hour to Caravan North on Route 340 to Luray (about 55 miles) for brunch (which is currently $28 per person) followed by a very short drive to the Caverns. Admission for adults to the Luray Caverns is $34 ($32 for seniors) and includes a self guided tour of the Caverns as well as admission to the Car and Carriage Museum\, Shenandoah Heritage Village and Toy Town Junction. \nThe Car and Carriage Museum really has an impressive and eclectic collection of vehicles\, whether powered by real horses or petrol! Of course\, the Caverns are spectacular too\, so please plan to join us for this excursion. DESCRIPTION:“British Car Week is an annual tradition of promoting the British car hobby. It began as a response to columnist Peter Egan’s wake-up call titled “Seldom Seen Cars” published in the March 1997 issue of Road & Track Magazine. The latter part of May was chosen since it is a time of year when many British car owners begin thinking about preparing their cars for the upcoming driving season. The idea was to promote the British car hobby using the vast resources of the internet to contact British car enthusiasts wherever possible (email\, clubs\, blogs\, list groups…)\, and hope they would join forces to help promote all of the many wonderful facets of the hobby. By getting cars onto the roads of communities everywhere possible during the week\, it would help increase awareness of these once very popular vehicles\, and in turn help keep the hobby and businesses that support our cars flourishing.” \nNote that the SVBCC has four events during this week: \n\nMay 27: Cruise-In & Picnic @ Glenmore Country Club\nJune 1 (morning): British Invasion (& Breakfast) @ Cars & Coffee Charlottesville\nJune 1 (afternoon): Rockbridge Winery Afternoon\nJune 2: Drive To Luray Caverns for Brunch + Car & Carriage Museum

DESCRIPTION:Okay; we got rained out on May 4\, we’re rained out again this weekend\, but we’re regrouping for a show of (British) force at the Charlottesville Cars & Coffee on Saturday\, June 1. This is held at the Barracks Road Shopping Center. \nCars & Coffee typically starts around 8am\, but if you can arrive early – say\, around 7:30 – park your car and stroll 100 yards over to First Watch (across from Greenberry’s) for a delicious breakfast. \nThere is no reserved parking at the show so it may be a little difficult for us to park together\, but in any case\, we’ll be together in spirit! \nCars usually start leaving the show by around 10 – 10:30am. \nC&C is a “rain or shine” event\, but if the weather is really bad\, we will choose another Saturday soon. \nAbout Cars & Coffee: Held on the 1st and 3rd Saturday of each month (rain or shine)\, this is an eclectic gathering that ranges from 10 -100+ cars\, depending on the weather. There are sometimes a dozen or more British cars. Best of all\, it’s free! SUMMARY:NC MG Car Club Triangle British Classic Car Show
DESCRIPTION:“This is an excellent opportunity to see a large assortment of cars representing 100 years of British motoring history.  There will be a car show\, a silent auction\, a 50/50 drawing\, and food!  We will again have a Hot Wheels car race for children—the cars will be provided\, and each child will be allowed to keep the car he/she races. \nThe beautiful\, handicapped accessible\, facility will provide us with restrooms along with places to sit and relax—all in air-conditioned comfort. \nThere is no charge for spectators\, who can vote for their favorite car.  The cost for registering a car is $30 for the first car you register\, and $15 for each additional car registered. \nThe first 150 cars registered will receive dash plaques.  Early registration closes on April 10th.  Registration must be postmarked by that date to be considered early.  All early registrants will receive a free car show T-shirt.  Early registration is the only way to guarantee that you will receive a T-shirt.  A limited number will be available for purchase at the registration tent.  All early registrants will be entered in a drawing for a $100 gift card.”

DESCRIPTION:ADDENDUM — May 14: \nBecause of the forecast for rain\, we have cancelled our weekend motel reservations and will go for a day at a time (on Saturday for the Trials and/ or on Sunday for the Races)\, if the weather permits\, as rain cancels our participation.  Please contact me with any questions.\nMark Harris \nJoin former Club member Ken Brasfield and me for another thrilling weekend of vintage racing at Summit Point Raceway. \nThe event will run 5/16-19; come for the whole weekend or for part of a day. More information on the event here. \nKen and I will leave from the Charlottesville area Friday 5/17 and return Sunday 5/19. We have weekend accommodations at the Rodeway Inn in Charlestown\, WV–located about 20 minutes east of Summit Point WV. We bring camp chairs\, beverages\, and munchies but rely on the snack bar for burgers\, fries\, and such.  We usually set up in the Infield across from the principal grandstand then scope out different views from other parts of the track. \nMany of us have attended the Jefferson 500 in the past and have enjoyed its excellent competition and high quality race cars. Some Club members have competed in the 500…not sure if any will race this year.
